Before you run out and get your flu shot, you might want to think about who you're letting inject you. Where did these vaccines come from? How do we know what's in them? Whether they'll work? Whether they're serving some other purpose? Genetic markers. Biological or chemical testing. You never know.
I'm pretty turned off to getting mysterious shots, I'll take my chances getting sick.

In other news, I've heard about the recent occurrences of petrification. If you've got any information on them and wouldn't mind sharing it, I'd like to hear it.

Peter Petrelli is capable of decoding and reading psychical energies. A telepath. He's not of a great talent, but he was capable of discerning that much.

No. No-one. I will admit to you that she has a history of criminal activity, but she is fully reformed and working a structured job with fellow employees who are very fond of her. I will also admit that we come from a 'world,' personally, where the ability to turn a human into a statue is a possibility, however gruesome.

Thank you for that confidence. I don't know what I would do if she weren't to recover.

Hmn, interesting. Is anyone present from your world, to the best of your knowledge, who possesses that ability? I'm hoping to establish a pattern among the victims, if possible, as well as a list of those who may be responsible.

No. No one that I'm aware of, no names that I've seen so far that I recognize. It's possible, however, I can only claim to be informed about them, not encyclopaedic. I'm sorry.

Not a problem, I just figured you might have some insight. If you don't mind my asking, though-- if it were someone from your world, could you venture a guess as to how it might be accomplished? Is yours a magic-using universe?

No. No, magic certainly doesn't exist where I'm from. The very idea is anathema to me, and I am what you would call 'fringe' to begin with. I studied parapsychology at one point at university at Oxford. Currently I am doing work on genetics, advanced humans with very special abilities.

So, okay, you're a man of science. Genetic aberrations, mutations granting human beings unusual abilities? Would make it tough to track, I imagine, if that's what's at work here.

Not abberations, just unusually swift evolutionary changes. But yes, it would. I could spot the genetic markers for an evolved ability, but that would require a sample to begin with.

Small-scale single-generation evolution, as opposed to mutations with an environmental cause, you mean? Like--well, never mind. I can buy that. It's a fascinating subject, but probably not helpful for catching bad guys.

I'm not sure of the cause, not yet. It could be environmental. I only know the rate and the markers, from study of the human genome.
