Unfortunately, that is the case with curses. But many people are seeking answers and the truth behind them, so perhaps one day, they can be stopped.

When you figure out how normal govenments are run without problems, please inform me. Our division was created specifically to deal with unusual cases, so it's not evil or anything like that.

I'm more accustomed to the bad kind of covert, classified agencies. The kind that collaborate with alien powers, covering up and abetting the abduction of innocent people in order to perform tests on them, setting the stage for the colonization of Earth.

If I'd never come to the City, I don't think I could believe this theory. However...

Things like alien abductions really exist in your world? Please don't take this the wrong way, but extraterretials beings are non-existent on my world. They sound clever, by manipulating people in positions of power.

Most people in my world would tell you otherwise. I'm something of a joke at the bureau; they call me Spooky, consider my pursuits a kind of personal crusade, motivated by madness. But their ridicule is as much a part of the government charade as anything; believers are immediately discredited, and anyone offering even a glimmer of scientific proof, anything that can't be discredited, is destroyed.

Pursue what you feel is right, regardless of what others say; even if the world itself fights back. I admire such determination, actually, since I know the feeling as well. My comrades think my logic, to link science and the unexplained together, is impossible at best. You are entitled to fight for what you believe in, regardless of these petty nicknames people may give you.

Well spoken, Mr. Nein.

My partner believes there's a scientific explanation for everything... that nothing is unexplained. Personally? I want to believe there are things beyond the boundaries of human knowledge. But I know what it's like when no one's willing to listen-- much less give credence to your beliefs.

Misunderstood is... well. Most people wouldn't be so kind. But I've also been reminded that it's dangerous to get into the habit of thinking oneself misunderstood.

It seems we have a few distinct differences there. There is a possibility that certain things can't be explained. However, I believe humans can exceed their own expectations and reach new levels of understanding. The potential to do good and evil lies within us all, by defeating and conquering our own personal limitations.

Ah, I think I understand now. Either way, trust is hard to earn, and easily destroyed between people.
