[Almost inaudibly]

Shit.

[Long pause.]

O-kaaay… Not in Kansas anymore. Look, if I’m dead, Clyde Bruckman? You owe me an apology.

So, working on the assumption that I’m not… Is anyone out there?

I could use a hand here.

The deceased here usually do.

Welcome to the City. I see you've already been given the guide, it explains most of the ...quirks of this place, as unlikely as it might seem.

Going home is an unpredictable business at best.

First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye, of the Amestrian military. You're from a version of Earth, I take it?

Quite a few, I think you'll find.

Amestris; and I'm not surprised- very few people here have, and they tend to be people like myself, who come from the country.

Aspirin does, along with numerous other painkillers.

Likewise. No military, but a police force does exist partially in its stead.

If you do wake up back home tomorrow you've got more luck than a lot of people.

Headquarters are easy to find should you need us. Interested in joining, I take it?

[identity profile] guardianed.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair enough.

Then we shall meet again shortly should you decide to follow through with that. I'm currently serving as Chief of Police.

Not too much.

We require that you speak to either myself, or one of the department heads, undergo a skills assessment, and provide two letters of recommendation if you can. For new arrivals with no contacts in the City, we realize that this can be a problem and arrangements can be made.

It's no trouble. But you're welcome.
